The Joy of Writing My Books

The Joy of Writing My Books

Writing my books has been one of the most rewarding journeys of my life. Each book I created came from a different part of my heart — some from memories, some from imagination, some from my love of nature, family, animals, gardens, and the lessons life teaches us along the way.

Through Globe Flower Publishers, I have been able to share stories for children, heartfelt memoirs, inspirational reflections, and gentle books that I hope will bring comfort, joy, laughter, and encouragement to readers.

Some of my children’s books were inspired by animals, friendship, kindness, and the simple magic children see in the world around them. Books like Sam’s Pawsome Life, Sammy Goes to the Farm, The Big Dog and the Little Friends, Faye the Farting Fairy, and The Secret Life of Henry the Grasshopper allowed me to step into a playful world full of adventure, colour, and imagination.

I especially enjoyed writing stories where children can learn without feeling like they are being taught. Kindness, courage, confidence, acceptance, and friendship are themes that mean a lot to me. I believe children’s books should not only entertain, but also plant small seeds of goodness in young hearts.

My memoirs and personal stories came from a deeper place. Books such as The Whispering Winds of Childhood and When the River Remembers allowed me to look back at my life, my memories, my roots in South Africa, and the many roads that eventually led me to Canada. Writing these books was emotional at times, but also healing. It reminded me that every life has a story worth telling.

I also found joy in writing books about growth, healing, purpose, gardens, gratitude, and aging with dignity. These books reflect my own thoughts about life — how we keep growing, how we survive hard seasons, and how beauty can still be found in quiet moments.

What I love most about writing is that no two books feel the same. Some make me laugh. Some make me cry. Some bring back memories I thought I had forgotten. Others open a door to imagination and take me somewhere completely new.

Every book has taught me patience, creativity, and courage. It takes time to write, edit, design, and publish a book, but when I finally see the finished result, I feel proud. It is a beautiful feeling to know that something that started as a small idea in my mind has become a real book that someone else can read and enjoy.

My hope is that my books will reach people who need them — a child who needs a cheerful story, a parent looking for a meaningful book, a reader who enjoys heartfelt memories, or someone who simply needs a little encouragement.

Thank you to everyone who has supported my writing journey. Every book I have written carries a little piece of my heart, and I am grateful to share them with you.

With love,

When the River Remembers” by Elizabeth Erasmus

https://amzn.to/4onVR8A

It’s the most personal story I’ve ever written—based on real experiences of love, heartbreak, and the harsh reality of 1980s South Africa. It tells the story of Elena and Milton, whose love crossed the lines that society refused to erase.

I carried this story for more than two decades, and I’m honored to finally share it with the world. If you enjoy emotional, real-life-inspired love stories with historical weight, I hope this one speaks to you.
